History of ETHALON

A young company with a history?

Yes, that too is ETHALON. But first things first. All began with the establishment of an internet portal at Ludwig Görtz GmbH in 2002. Almost 4,000 employees and more than 280 branches in Germany, Austria, Poland and Switzerland, make Ludwig Görtz GmbH a leading retailer of shoes and accessories.

2011

Today, 150 employees work at ETHALON. Besides the head office in Hamburg, there are now branch offices in Hamburg, Cologne and Munich, and have been since 2010. The long-term trading expertise and newly grown customer portfolio from several different industries led in 2010 to a new corporate structure. A dedicated Retail business unit, is now the explicit retail partner, while the offices provide consulting services, contact and development for clients from other industries.

2010

At the same time, e-learning developed as a business area with excellent potential. Joint projects with E-learning provider IAM, a University of Lüneburg spin-off, were so promising that IAM became a subsidiary of ETHALON in 2009. Meanwhile, both companies undertook many joint projects with clients now that the introduction of new IT systems is increasingly supported by e-learning concepts.

2009

With a growing customer portfolio, hiring new employees was a necessity. Two years after it was founded, ETHALON already employeed 40 people, in 2009 the team consisted for the first time of more than 100 employees. Now that ETHALON was well known in the retail market, other industries were aware of the IT service provider from Hamburg. Thus many new projects could be carried out in several industries, such as logistics, insurance and chemicals. And little by little they went on to form a further mainstay of the company.

2008

The name ETHALON got around fast in the retail market - both that ETHALON develops individual IT solutions and that it has excellent retail expertise. It turned out to be a big plus that we know how to implement specific requirements that are needed to implement retail IT solutions. Besides Görtz, many other commercial customers found their way to ETHALON because both sides spoke the same language. Therefore in time, the workforce management software ARGOS, the POS and branch system PRIAMOS and the ERP & CRM system THEMIS took shape.

2007

Simultaneously the IBM partnership was launched, which culminated three years later in a Premier Business Partnership.

2004

The success was there, the mood was excellent and therefore five Görtz employees took advantage of the opportunity and founded ETHALON as a Ludiwg Görtz GmbH subsidiary in 2004. As founding members already on board, Norbert Gödicke and Brigitta Quednau are the management along with Bert Woschkeit.
